For Lola Demure, show business is in her blood.
Born into a family of performers, Lola began her ballet training at just four years old in Los Angeles. Her mother was a professional ballet dancer, and her grandmother was a professional tap dancer and burlesque artist on the vaudeville circuit in the 1930s. From an early age, Lola was surrounded by performance, costuming, choreography, and the magic—and occasional madness—of putting on a show.
Her classical training took her from Los Angeles to some of the country’s most respected ballet programs. Lola attended summer intensives on full scholarship with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Pacifica, and the Rock School of Ballet. While competing with the Youth America Grand Prix, she was awarded a medal recognizing her as one of the top ten ballerinas in California.
She went on to dance professionally with Pennsylvania Ballet in Philadelphia and California Ballet Company in San Diego.
Then, in 2009, Lola traded her tutu for tassels—and she’s been twirling them ever since. Today, Lola is known as the “Prima Ballerina of Burlesque,” bringing together the precision, technique, and artistry of classical ballet with the glamour, humor, and playfulness of burlesque. Her performances are distinctly her own: polished but playful, elegant but cheeky, and always with a little something unexpected.

Meet Lola Demure
A Career on Stage—and Behind It
_edited.jpg)
Lola has performed at festivals and events across the country, including the Las Vegas Burlesque Festival, Show Me Burlesque & Vaudeville Festival, Colorado Burlesque Festival, New Mexico Burlesque Festival, Ohio Burlesque Festival, Tiki Oasis, and Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender.
Her work has also earned recognition along the way, including a Silver Medal at the 2015 California Regional Burlypicks competition and Most Dynamic Performer at the 2023 Exquisite Burlesque Festival.
In 2026, Lola expanded her creative work at Viva Las Vegas by joining the creative team for the World Famous Burlesque Showcase as a choreographer, bringing her extensive dance background to the creation of one of the event’s signature productions.
But performing is only part of what Lola does. As the founder of Demure Productions, she has spent more than a decade producing burlesque and variety entertainment throughout Southern California and beyond. Her productions have ranged from intimate gatherings and brunch shows to large-scale theatrical productions, giving her a unique perspective on both sides of the curtain.
Teaching the Next Generation of Showgirls
Lola has been part of the faculty at Flaunt Dance Studio in San Diego since its inception in 2016, where she teaches her signature classes Ballet for Burlesque, Burlesque Tease, and Fantastic Floorwork. Her approach to teaching is rooted in the belief that dance and performance should be tools for empowerment—not prerequisites for belonging. Whether a student dreams of becoming a professional performer or simply wants to feel stronger, more confident, and more comfortable in their own body, Lola’s classes focus on building technique, strength, movement quality, and confidence that students can take with them wherever their journey leads.
A Showgirl for Everyone
At the heart of everything Lola does is a love for bringing people together. She believes there is no single way to be a performer, a dancer, a showgirl, or an audience member. Her work celebrates individuality, encourages people to embrace their own weird and wonderful selves, and creates space for performers and audiences from all walks of life. After all, Lola has spent her life learning that there is more than one way to take the stage.
Sometimes you wear a tutu.
Sometimes you wear tassels.
And sometimes, if you’re Lola Demure, you wear both.
